Our story

We believe every student in Ghana deserves a great tutor.

How it started

Started with a phone call that should have been easier.

Before tuta, finding a tutor in Ghana meant asking in a WhatsApp group, hoping someone knew someone, and trusting that the person who showed up was actually qualified. It worked sometimes. Mostly it didn't.

At the same time, hundreds of brilliant tutors across Accra and Ho were doing the same thing in reverse: messaging contacts, posting on Facebook, chasing referrals, and spending more time finding students than actually teaching.

We built tuta to fix both sides of that problem. A platform where tutors are verified before they ever meet a family, where matching is handled by a real team who understand the Ghanaian curriculum, and where parents can trust that the person arriving at their door has been checked, rated, and held accountable.

We started with a WhatsApp line and a notebook. Today we have 50 verified tutors across Accra and Ho, with a full platform launching in 2026. We're just getting started.

What we stand for

Our values

01

Access is not a privilege

Every student in Ghana deserves a qualified tutor, not just those in wealthy suburbs or elite schools. We build our pricing, our outreach, and our platform for the majority, not the minority.

Built for the majority
02

Tutors deserve to thrive

Teaching is a profession. We treat tutors like professionals: fair pay, visibility, and a platform that helps them build a career they're proud of. When tutors win, students win.

Fair pay. Real visibility.
03

Trust is built, not claimed

We verify every tutor before they're listed. We review every match before it's confirmed. We stand behind every session with our credits policy. Trust isn't a tagline at tuta. It's an operational standard.

Every tutor, verified
04

Speed matters

A parent who contacts us at 8am should have a matched tutor by the next morning. We've built our entire operations model around time-to-match because every day without the right tutor is a day of lost progress.

The team

The people behind tuta

Bernard Tay

Bernard Tay

Founder & CEO

Bernard is the builder behind tuta. A software developer who led engineering teams at Atmostech Solutions and spent time teaching at Ho Technical University and Genius IT Brainery, he sat at the intersection of education and technology long before tuta existed. He built the platform because he understood both sides of the problem: the student who couldn't find a tutor, and the tutor who couldn't find consistent work. At tuta, he leads product, technology, and company strategy.

Bright Etornam Adzah

Bright Etornam Adzah

Co-founder & COO

Bright builds things that matter. With a background in business development and marketing, and prior startup experience under his belt, he brings the rare combination of strategic thinking and hands-on execution that early-stage companies run on. At tuta, he leads growth and operations. He connects the right people and makes sure the platform delivers on its promise every single day. He is driven by one thing: impact that actually reaches people.

Caleb Gaba

Caleb Gaba

Co-founder & CFO

Caleb keeps tuta financially disciplined and operationally honest. An accountant by training, he has spent years working with The Canteen School, one of Ghana's prestigious international schools, and consulting for SMEs across the country. He brings rigour to every number on tuta's books and ensures the business is built to last, not just to grow. At tuta, he leads finance, compliance, and commercial operations.

DA

Daniel Antwi

Admin & Community Manager

Daniel is the voice of tuta's community. A Computer Science graduate, he manages the day-to-day relationships that make the platform run: onboarding tutors, supporting parents, and keeping communication clear and responsive. He understands both the technical side of the platform and the human side of the service, which makes him the connective tissue between tuta's operations and the people it serves.

PE

Paul Eze

Videographer & Content Creator

Paul tells tuta's story. With experience working across a diverse range of Ghanaian brands, he understands that identity is built through consistent, authentic visual storytelling, not just a logo. At tuta, he shapes how the platform is seen and felt, building the brand presence that earns the trust of parents and tutors before they've even made contact. If tuta looks credible, a large part of that is Paul's work.
